On 26th July 2026, a group of members of the society visited a Jack Dodd cabin together with members of the Sherbrooke Foothills Historical Society
A log cabin built by Jack (John) Dodd Snr on the property in the late 1920s survives. It is a simple, single-roomed log cabin, rectangular in plan, with a brick and stone chimney and corrugated iron roof
The cabin is not in good condition and will be allowed to fall down
The area around the cabin has returned to nature and access is hard work
The cabin is on a moderately steep slope
The cabin is unlined and has a single door and a window.
overlooking the property towards the west. It was lived in while a second house was being built, and later served as a packing shed.
Jack Dodd also built two other log cabins, one nearby in private ownership (see opposite) and the other at Mt. Dandenong (Kate Kelly’s pub).
